Description
Summary:This dossier on the body at school focuses on daily interactions and lived experience at school to shed light on the body as a means, tool or resource for education. It revolves around three main themes: the body in learning, in relation to self and others, and its manifold representations. Case studies from twelve countries highlight the diversity of philosophies that underpin practice and explore how children learn with and through their bodies. The body is the locus where various issues intersect around education, identity, civics, morality, religion and politics. The way it is harnessed is indicative of a wider education – or indeed societal – project.
