| Yhteenveto: | Organisations challenging hierarchical models, such as liberated companies, raise the question of how to coordinate the autonomy offered to employees and enable collective action. This article analyses the conditions for implementing the principle of subsidiarity to organize autonomy in the workplace. An intervention-research in a soap factory that subscribes to the philosophy of liberated companies shows that the liberated approach and the resulting autonomy generate certain difficulties (problems of coordination and prioritisation, decision-making, feeling of a lack of support), which echo the concept of subsidiarity. These results lead to discuss the conditions for a subsidiary management, enabling decision-making, recognizing the right to make mistakes and the right to incompetence, considering and organising support within the organisation. |
