| الملخص: | More than fourty per cent of italian students don’t achieve a secondary school degree. The paradox is that educational institutions are expected to increase the human capital while simultaneously they work to produce social exclusion. Students, at the same time, are encouraged to carry on with studies while they are simultaneously judged inadequate. It is questionable whether mayor formal division within schools and the provision of multiple curricular options defined in hierarchical terms help students most effectively achieve their potential. In fact teachers use previous academic performance as main criterion to evaluate students as if an unchanging quality of individual could determine school performance. The first and possibly most effective action to increase the productivity of the school would be to modify the quality of teacher-student interaction. |
