Yet, inclusive schooling for children with disabilities requires a strong parental involvement. Drawing on the life stories of 39 mothers of children with autism spectrum disorders, collected between 2020 and 2021 as part of a doctoral research project, this article shows how this constraint – primarily borne by women – disrupts their career paths. First, it analyses the strategies implemented by mothers to reconcile their professional activities with caring for their child. It then takes a more longitudinal perspective to explore how they reframe this constraint, giving it meaning and integrating it into their career paths.Si l’inclusion scolaire est devenue la norme de scolarisation des enfants en situation de handicap depuis vingt ans, les enjeux et les conséquences de cette scolarité pour les parents restent assez inexplorés. Pourtant, la scolarisation inclusive des élèves en situation de handicap nécessite une présence forte des parents. En s’adossant aux récits de vie de 39 mères d’enfant ayant un trouble du spectre autistique réalisés entre 2020 et 2021 dans le cadre d’une recherche doctorale, cet article montre comment cette contrainte – essentiellement assumée par les femmes – bouscule leur parcours professionnel. Il analyse d’abord les stratégies mises en œuvre par les mères pour concilier leurs activités professionnelles avec l’accompagnement de leur enfant. Il montre ensuite, dans une perspective plus longitudinale, comment elles se saisissent de cette contrainte pour lui donner un sens et l’intégrer à leur parcours professionnel.Cairn free access |
