| Résumé: | While inclusive schooling has been the standard approach for disabled children for the past twenty years, its challenges and consequences for parents remain relatively unexplored. Yet, inclusive schooling for children with disabilities requires a strong parental involvement. Drawing on the life stories of 39 mothers of children with autism spectrum disorders, collected between 2020 and 2021 as part of a doctoral research project, this article shows how this constraint – primarily borne by women – disrupts their career paths. First, it analyses the strategies implemented by mothers to reconcile their professional activities with caring for their child. It then takes a more longitudinal perspective to explore how they reframe this constraint, giving it meaning and integrating it into their career paths. |
