Description
Résumé:This article identifies the present time as a comparative kairos, linked to the constitution of a “finally complete Weltliteratur” and to the rehabilitation of translated texts. It proposes an essay in extra-European or “intra-Asian” comparatism based on a corpus consisting of Dostoevsky’s Notes from the Underground, Sadegh Hedayat’s The Blind Owl, Tanizaki’s The Key, and Tahsin Yücel’s Vatandas. The “scale games” will allow us to “construct comparables” from the macro level of comparative history to the textual scale of enunciative scenographies, and to the micro-reading of lexemes. This comparative experiment offers a double heuristic benefit: it highlights comparables between extra-European literatures and provides insight into the historical and poetic manufacturing of non-Western modernities.
