| Streszczenie: | The aim of the present study was to test whether both low- and high-SES students would prefer same-SES comparisons and to examine the level of performance these students might expect in their ingroup comparison target. After receiving either a failure or an average performance feedback on a bogus memory test, low- and high-SES students were asked to select another student on the basis of his/her SES and to predict his/her test score. Low- and high-SES students both showed a strong preference for an ingroup target and expected this target to get a better score than they did. These upward expectations, however, were lower among low-SES students. The discussion focuses on the role of SES as a performance-related attribute in social comparison. |
