Shrnutí:China, an increasingly important global player, has undergone a profound social transformation in recent decades, to which the CSR movement has also contributed. While an increasing number of studies are exploring the rise of CSR in China, little attention has been devoted to local practices in French-language literature. Inspired by institutional theory and benefiting from total immersion within a multinational retail company, we conducted a case study on the implementation of a global CSR policy, the gender equality policy, in the company's Chinese subsidiary. Based on the three factors identified in the literature - the national context, the group's internationalization strategy and the subsidiary's strategic positioning - we have attempted to explain the paradox in the results obtained and the efforts undertaken within the Chinese subsidiary on this issue by complementary social, cultural and managerial elements. We thus intend to provide French groups operating in China with some suggestions for their strategic definition of a global CSR policy.
