The analysis focuses on mealtime interactions as a privileged site for socialization within the family. Results show that (i) the language stay can have an important structuring effect on the development of the L2, and namely of L2 interactional competence; (ii) this development is inextricably intertwined with the interactions the learner recurrently engages in with the host family and the social ties she thereby established with her interlocutors: The progressive sharing of the norms and values of the family as a micro-community as well as the epistemic and affective relations built over time with members of that community contribute to shaping the learner’s opportunities for using and, by extension, acquiring the L2.Cette étude longitudinale en analyse conversationnelle interroge l’intersection entre la trajectoire acquisitionnelle d’une apprenante de français L2 et les rapports sociaux qu’elle noue avec sa famille d’accueil durant un séjour linguistique. L’analyse se concentre sur les interactions durant les repas (lieux privilégiés de la socialisation en famille). Nous montrons que (i) le séjour linguistique a un effet structurant sur le développement de la L2, et notamment de la compétence d’interaction en L2 ; (ii) ce développement est inextricablement lié aux processus d’interaction et aux liens sociaux que l’apprenante tisse avec ces interlocuteurs par le biais de ces interactions : le partage progressif des normes et valeurs de la micro-communauté d’accueil, ainsi que les rapports interpersonnels épistémiques et affectifs qui s’établissent au fil du temps contribuent à configurer les opportunités d’utilisation et d’acquisition de la L2.Cairn restricted access
