| Итог: | Visual poetry, which remained unknown in China, experienced a definite success in Taiwan where writing enjoyed special attention as soon as the late fifties, and was admired by artists all over the world for its link to image. Poets like Zhan Bing, or more recently Chen Li, took to playing with the different senses of Chinese characters by laying them out as they pleased on the page to create original meaning effects. The reader is encouraged to wonder about the sense and form of the writing characters submitted to him/her by somehow going back to the original character from which they stem from. Away from any discursive message, Taiwanese visual poetry is based on a writing which is particularly open to the use of metaphor, which intrinsic power, just as the most diverse political and social concerns, are thus fully expressed with unforeseen power. |
