सारांश:Within the context of the 1960s and 1970s, during which appeared a literature of constraints grounded upon a scientific model, Levi’s project of intertwining both his jobs within his work as a “system” can be seen as the conquest of a specific literary field. Indeed, contrary to common opinion, this far from assigned him to his identity as a chemist. It actually consolidated his status as a writer. It was probably with this objective that Levi alternated both testimonial and fictional elements within his seemingly autobiographical text, thereby playing with or even unsettling his readers, despite the need for clarity he emphasizes in his articles and interviews. This blurring was most likely a response to the vain search of a key to understand the world and to understand Auschwitz (these objectives were linked, for Auschwitz clearly was rooted in this world): both seemed to be “machineries” inciting the author to weave together a system of encryptions of his own.
