| Özet: | The sanction of the Democritus’ figure marks the condemnation, by the Enlightenment’s philosophers, of a cynical and malicious laughter, close to Hobbesian laughter. However, it is this complex laughter’s angles that Sade sharpens when he plunges his comic short story’s puppet character into laughter bursts of a nobility of blood boasting of avenging a gentleman victim of justice’s prevarications. But perhaps these bursts of laughter shaped by an infantile aggressivity say something new about this proscribed laughter (and about the incarcerated writer), a laughter that is necessarily ineffective as soon as it’s written for oneself, except when the laughs translate into words the energy of a survival instinct. |
