סיכום:One might expect a treatise to expose and express, to argue and affirm, but in Pascal Quignard’s traité there is a poem. Something unresolved, something that retreats, that resists the stranglehold logic of writing. It is a question of the untreatable, intractable, nature of the treatise. The textual and linguistic alarm bells that leave us staggered, that propel us into the unknown. We approach the cracks of time, the narrative crypt, the limping of syntax, the sentences of the dead. Ineffable silence and “seeing black”. Until the failure of the literary criticism that “reasons” appears in all its clarity; until we see the need to invent an unsettled mode of criticism, one that recognises the shamanic power of words, one where thinking draws its energy from the lack in language.
