| Итог: | This paper sets out to situate Surrealism in 1924 in relation to the avant-garde movements and the opposition between modernity and modernism. The Surrealists reject the avant-garde label and resist modernism, which undermines the ethical and aesthetic disruption proclaimed by modernity. Between 1919 and 1924, the movement claims for the renewal of thought and the transformation of the world through language, defending a lyricism that escapes all poetic and rhetorical formalisation. It thus promotes an extra-literary vision of poetry. When Breton’s Manifesto was published, the visual arts had not yet been systematised within Surrealism, but its ambitions would unite people from all fields of knowledge and the arts who were inspired by this spirit of revolt, striving to rediscover “real life” and give free rein to desire. |
