| סיכום: | André-Michel Guerry (1802-1866), a French lawyer and statistician, is known for his statistical approach to criminology. In 1864, he published a comprehensive comparison of crime data in France and England, which he had painstakingly collected from various sources. The data are presented in the form of graphs where Guerry considers the values taken by several summary statistics. Many were well known but Guerry introduced new ones to which he gave the generic name of libration. This article presents a conjectural and partial understanding of these. These indices, or at least their names, do not seem to have survived Guerry, but their introduction is in line with questions still relevant in statistics |
