Shrnutí:We propose a detailed analysis of the complex preposition au dire de/aux dires de and of the main elements of its structural schema: X, its complement, and Y, the proposition in the scope of the prepositional phrase au(x) dire(s) de X, which functions as a sentential adverbial that indicates the origin or source of the information provided in Y. This use (symbolized as COMT), is opposed to two non-prepositional uses of the combination au(x)+dire(s)+de X, symbolized respectively as CIRC (adverbial complement of time/cause) and SEL (essential argument selected by the verb or complement added to a noun, adjective, adverb or preposition). Are described then the distributional, morphosyntactic and semantic properties of the lemma dire, the noun phrase le dire and the initial preposition à/au(x) ; then those of the elements X (namely the substitutability of the prepositional phrase by a possessive adjective) and Y (in particular its semiotic status, its forms and sentence modalities) and the place of the prepositional phrase au(x) dire(s) de X in the sentence.
