總結:Since the 1980s the Chilean state has opted for a market-based education system by funding almost all education through vouchers paid to the schools chosen by parents. The private sector has expanded considerably. However, the anticipated improvement in the performance of the education system has not materialized and social segregation has increased. Since then, successive education policies have attempted to correct these unwanted effects through increasing state intervention in the running of the education system: the state has tackled the quality of teaching by organizing teacher training and improving the status of teachers, by intervening in the management of poorly performing schools and by abolishing the registration fees some schools were requesting of families.
