Isn’t defining man as undefinable still giving him a definition ? Nietzsche dismisses man, invoking his sickly animal instability, having no « essence » other than that which arises from an unclear becoming and a contigent history. But this labyrinth of traits used to describe man as a force which invents itself through twists of fiction and misunderstandings should not make one give up on finding a constant value somewhere between an undeterminable « nature »(which is nevertheless interprétable in the will to power as chaos) and a will reduced to the affirmation of a destiny without finality or reason. |
