| Sažetak: | This paper examines the dynamics of Italian electoral behavior during the European Parliament elections held between 2004 and 2024, with particular attention to the specific discontinuities highlighted by the 2024 elections. Multifactorial analysis (MFA), combined with exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA), reveals three main axes structuring the political space: a) the opposition between the dynamic, integrated provinces of the North and the fragile, marginalized areas of the South; b) the division between pro-European but critical parties and openly Eurosceptic forces; and c) the contrast between organizationally stable parties and ephemeral political actors. Abstentionism, which is increasingly emerging as a third pole, reflects the structure of the inequalities—generational exclusion, socioeconomic fragility, and territorial disparities—that cut across Italian provinces, thus marking the transition from a bipolar to a tripolar system. |
