Riassunto:In 2022 ANVUR concluded an evaluation exercise of the Italian research, to which we refer with the acronym VQR (Research Quality Assessment), covering the period 2015-2019 and aimed at universities, public research centers supervised by the MUR, and institutions that participated on a voluntary basis. The VQR 2015-2019 gave an important picture of the Italian research and Third Mission activities, which was extensively analyzed in an ANVUR critical analysis report as well as in a report prepared by international experts, commissioned by ANVUR to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the evaluation. Based on the lessons offered by the 2015-2019 VQR, ANVUR subsequently began to work on the VQR referred to the period 2020-2024. The experiences of previous evaluation exercises were taken into account in the new evaluation, incorporating stimuli and proposals gathered through internal discussion, and also through the opinion gained from foreign experts to improve critical aspects of the evaluation.
