Résumé:The Note focuses on F. Butera, Disegnare l’Italia. Progetti e politiche per organizzazioni e lavori di qualità (Marsilio, 2023), in which the author argues that the crisis of Fordism can led to the affirmation of a new type of company, capable of organizing the work done by non-executive persons, highly professionalized, responsible and creative, capable, that is, of making an autonomous contribution to the improvement of production processes. Technology will not determine this type of company but rather a organizational project which Butera summarizes in the concept of “integral company”. In the book, which focuses mainly on the Italian experience, numerous examples of this company are given and guidelines are formulated for its implementation. The “integral company”, by organizing the concrete, not abstract, work of persons who aspire to new degrees of freedom at work, determines an authentic mode of social production that the traditional hierarchical company did not allow and therefore opens up a new and more democratic cycle of capitalist production.
