| الملخص: | Because of the fast diffusion of street crime and urban criminality, Italian city - as well as most of European cities - is changing. The very traditional model of European city is passing through a deep crisis. According to the public opinion, the historical nature of the italian city made of open and public spaces where citizen’s security is a collective good is not able any longer to match the new situation of urban danger and of diffused collective fear. We face in Europe a new trend towards the American model of a city highly segmented made of fortresses and where the residential security is the result of the individual and the community action. New strategies of crime prevention through urban and architectural design - imported from the United States - are becoming more and more common in the contemporary italian and European city. Most of these strategies try to privatize and to defend both residential neighborhoods and shopping or leisure places changing the city in a system of private and defended segments. |
