| Gaia: | This essay addresses the problem of the capital market for the small firms and proposes a new research approach to the analysis of entrepreneurial decisions in financial matters.Empirical research and theoretical studies usually deal with the insufficient functioning of this market by analyzing the capital supply in an economic perspective: they neglect demand analysis, since the entrepreneur is generally considered as behaving not correspondingly to economic theory assumptions. Therefore, the essay attempts to show how the entrepreneurial behaviour can be successfully examined by applying a sociological approach, which has already proved profitable in fields as different as technology, competition-cooperation relations, and productive organization.By no means the article aims at constructing a general theory: it only tries to single out a new path of research, picking up suggestions from existing studies in sociology and history of the economy. |
