| Summary: | The European social model (ESM) faces the challenges of neoliberal policies to cope with globalization and of growing social inequalities. Its historical promises depended upon economic growth that now lacks. It was also a part of the expanding middles classes’ social contract. The national welfare aspect of ESM seems more resilient to change while the other aspect, labour’s participation and rights, that is strongly influenced by Ue seems more prone to change. Growth and EMS are both compulsory road for the survival of Europe. |
