Opis
Sažetak:European social model was developed in Europe in the 40s to protect individuals and their families against social and economic insecurity. European social model varies according to the different European countries, but it answers to a basic and unitary project: to produce socio-economic security through public programmes. Presently another project stands strikingly and successfully in the way of that one: to bring back social protection to the market. Choosing either one of the projects means taking a stand on the individual-society relation, the meaning and the acceptability of inequality, the goals of politics. The essay analyzes austerity policies implemented by European governments as an attack to the European social model. It examines attack’s reasons; how attack obstructs European society integration; the narratives that support it.
