| Crynodeb: | This paper deals with the hybrid identities that can arise from the appropriation of new spaces and places. In the short story “Metempsychosis” the protagonist, who is reincarnated in human form, becomes a metaphorical settler who takes up residence in a new body. There is a redefinition of self during the necessary acclimatisation to accept change and a new identity within unfamiliar anatomical borders. Settler experience and adaptation in new spatial environments when borders are crossed will be examined. |
