| Izvleček: | This paper examines the role of Behrouz Boochani’s No Friend but the Mountains (2019) and two short stories by Melatu Uche Okorie (2010, 2019) in producing and influencing cultural memory surrounding asylum detention regimes. I argue that the texts’ literary qualities enable the transmission of counter-discursive narratives of systematic violence and refugee resistance, whilst initiating an ongoing process of cultural memory production that surpasses their textual representations. |
