Sumari:This contribution is not an attempt to offer any original research but rather it offers a synthesis of the weight of judgement on the economic performance of the New Labour government. When all is said and done, one can argue that the current UK model strongly resembles the Swedish of the 1960s, exposure of the traded sector of the economy to strong competition and adjustment assistance to allow workers to return to jobs.
