| סיכום: | This research focuses on the concept of gender, most particularly on masculinity, in Chilean history. By studying newspapers and specialized works published during the last decade of the nineteenth century, it is possible to show how masculine representations were conformed, that intended to facilitate an imaginary installation and a passive performance which, under the protection of the Law, established ways of perceiving the functionality of the bodies. Thus I recognize how symbolic violence spread out, leading working class men to develop certain identities that could provide benefits beyond themselfs. |
