| Gaia: | This paper is consisted of two parts. In the first part an analysis of the corpus of Glagolitic inscriptions from the island of Krk is made. The inscriptions are analyzed through seven different criteria : quantity, geographical distribution, medium, original or secondary location, lost monuments, content and dating. Upon the analysis relevant conclusions are made. The second part deals with the most popular and most significant Glagolitic inscription in general, The Baška tablet. Baška tablet has more than a century and a half long history of interdisciplinary research. The monument is considered to be of greatest national value for the Croats. The paper provides an argument according to which the current dating of the Glagolitic inscription is not plausible. |
