After providing a chronology of the development of this production hub, the article focuses on the influence of space and infrastructure on Netflix’s production practices and internationalization strategy. It then examines how a private initiative led by the Secuoya Group has linked up with the Spanish government plans to foster the economy and the labor market opportunities in the country’s audiovisual sector by making regulatory accommodations to attract local and foreign investment from global streamers and other major players in the media industries. Le développement du cluster Madrid Content City, inauguré en 2019 en périphérie de la capitale de l’Espagne, met en évidence les modalités d’expansion de Netflix dans le monde, tout en révélant un tournant dans les formes de collaboration public-privé dans le contexte de la mondialisation néolibérale. Après avoir présenté une chronologie du développement de ce pôle de production, l’article se concentre sur la manière dont l’espace et les infrastructures du cluster influencent les pratiques de production et la stratégie d’internationalisation de Netflix. Il examine ensuite comment une initiative privée menée par le groupe Secuoya s’est associée aux projets du gouvernement espagnol pour stimuler l’économie et l’emploi dans l’audiovisuel, en adoptant une réglementation qui vise à attirer des investissements nationaux et étrangers en provenance des plateformes de streaming globales et d’autres acteurs majeurs des industries médiatiques.
