The first shots that follow Byron’s words present Nature as subject to worshipping. They indulge the viewer into revisiting the myth of the road, and suggest that Alexander could be Kerouac with a backpack. Events in the diegesis will prove less idealistic, and help display the filmic paradox that Nature in a fiction may not fit with fictional Nature. The former, as in reality, will become lethal to those “born to be – away from the – wild”.
