| 要約: | An overwhelming sense of movement and flux moves readers of The Tortoise Poems to experience harmony between man, nature, and time. Lawrence’s readiness to proffer enlightening ideas on humanity and existence reveals affinities with Nietzsche’s "Superman." At the same time, he is reminiscent of his contemporary Heidegger, as he moves ahead of his age, voicing similar notions of being and time. More importantly, he was not only aware of Einstein’s theory of relativity, he even expounds its basic ideas through his philosophical writings. The aim of this study of the rhythm and flow of Lawrence’s style in Tortoises is to shed light on how he creatively and harmoniously presents an art form that is not only aesthetic but also deeply engaged with questions of existence and humanity. His poetic style reflects an apprehension of time through which he escapes the anxiety of his own temporality. We notice how both the tortoise and the poet, each within its temporal space, move toward a mysterious beyond. The slow pace of the tortoise, portrayed against the rapid pace of Lawrence’s style, produces an equilibrium that is coupled with a harmonious combination of intellectual, emotional and physical experiences of time. |
