| 總結: | Knight’s Gambit is a collection of six stories in which the county attorney, Gavin Stevens, investigates the crimes committed in Yoknapatawpha. This article focuses on the four stories narrated by Stevens’s nephew, Charles Mallison, to argue that the book is more than a collection of whodunits, but also a form of Bildungsroman staging the evolution of Charles from boyhood to adulthood. Following Paul Ricoeur’s theory, the aim of this analysis is to demonstrate that narrating this quest for truth is in fact an initiatory journey through which Charles will achieve personal identity. |
