| Izvleček: | This article examines the role of science advice during the Covid‑19 pandemic by using Sweden as a specific case of expert‑centered crisis governance. Drawing on scholarly literature on evidence‑informed policymaking and on the author’s personal experience as State Secretary for Health in Sweden during the pandemic, the article analyses how scientific expertise was and can be mobilized and interpreted under conditions of urgency and uncertainty. Particular attention is paid to the Swedish administrative model in which government agencies play a central advisory role. The article discusses the risk of delegating democratic responsibility and analyses how science plays a role in legitimizing political action in crises. The author argues that future crisis preparedness requires transparent, institutionalized systems of science advice that integrate expertise from different sectors while safeguarding democratic accountability and transparency. |
