Özet:This essay analyzes how the global far right has mobilized the new platform-based working class through digital media, in a context of capitalism’s transformation. It argues that, far from being merely manipulated by disinformation, this segment of society is driven by legitimate emotions of anger, aspiration, and insubordination. Drawing on an ethnographic approach informed by my 25 years of research on economic precarity, this essay demonstrates how precarization, worsening living conditions, and the desire for recognition shape ambivalent political subjectivities, especially in the Global South. Digital entrepreneurship emerges as both a pathway to upward mobility and a political snare, dominated by a conservative elite of influencers. The analysis introduces the complementary concepts of precarious entitlement, self-worth, and the CEO myth to make sense of this alignment with the radical right. Finally, it is argued that winning the hearts and minds of the working class requires strong public policies and collective visions of the future that mobilize the same emotions currently fueling authoritarianism.
