| Sumario: | The movements of inhabitants due to gentrification have been the object of numerous studies since the 1970s. The resulting controversies concern both their outcome in terms of the residential trajectories and their very existence. However, their challenge, as an object of study, is linked less to conceptual reasons than to methodological ones. The hypothesis proposed here is that the so-called “urban project”, as it appears in the contemporary fabric of the city, is an appropriate time for the observation and identification of such movements. This raises the question of whether the movements caused by gentrification and those caused by the “urban project” are one and the same object of study. This article explores this perspective starting from a preliminary survey conducted as part of a doctoral thesis on the outskirts of the Euroméditerranée project in Marseille. |
