| Итог: | This paper investigates description as a characteristic feature of literary realism through the particular prism of analogy as analysed by Ricœur. Specifically, it wonders how contemporary realism invests description in the light of urgent questions related to climate change through the analysis of A. S. Byatt’s short story from 2013 ‘Sea Story’. As the scales of the phenomena involved overwhelm human understanding, the recourse to the Aristotelian analogy of proportion proves to be of help to appreciate complex networks of interdependences. The Thomist analogia entis, on the other hand, reintroduces the question of ontology so that contemporary analogical descriptions answer the need for what Karen Barad has called an ontoepistemology to come to terms with the new coordinates of a world impacted by global warming. |
