| Итог: | This article identifies the high point of relations between Italy and the People’s Republic of China and argues that it was the prerogatives of domestic politics and specifically the aftermath of the imploding of the Italian political system in the wake of the “Clean hands” investigations initiated by judges in Milan that was responsible for the subsequent major rupture. The analyze focuses on the varying trajectories of both states, which produced the circumstances that permitted a very significant growth in Italian exports to the PRC, to the extent that in Europe only West Germany boasted a superior performance. Attitudes within the Government are further examined to account for the volatile nature of relations both in the economic and diplomatic spheres. |
