| Sumario: | “RéseauxPoètesXVI” (Sixteenth Century Poets Network) is a database listing 2,200 references which demonstrate the perspectives on poetic activity of around 280 men and women of letters from 1549 to 1586. It records a network of citations between poets (a “who names who ?”), giving access to texts in full. In so doing, it gives a new perspective – that of representations of sociability – on the literary history of this period, considering the “Pléiade” (the name given to a group of seven prominent sixteenth century French poets) as a microphenomenon within much wider poetic sociability. The database is a tool to analyse the organization and presentation of networks of poets, highlighting the latter’s intense reflexivity on the social group they formed with their peers. The texts that it brings together thus help to gradually determine the place and value of French literature, providing an important breeding ground for what Alain Viala has called the gradual autonomization of the “literary field” in the seventeenth century. |
