Yhteenveto:This study publishes the Early Iron Age to Hellenistic and the – much less – Medieval to Modern pottery from the French-Greek excavations on the west acropolis of Dreros. The material consists of 200 pieces which were recovered from within Temple A and from adjacent structures and deposits. The contextual analysis of this pottery reaffirms the identification of a sanctuary at the site, which was proposed by the first excavator Stefanos Xanthoudidis, rather than of an andreion, as Spyridon Marinatos hypothesized. Additionally, the analysis offers rich evidence on the archaeology of cult at this sanctuary, and more broadly on the history and archaeology of Dreros for more than half a millennium. I also examine local ceramic production and the importation of actual vessels and stylistic trends from elsewhere in Crete and from overseas.
