| Tóm tắt: | The article reconstructs the photographic campaigns commissioned by the Office of Civil Engineers, the Italian institute responsible for public infrastructures, during the construction of the National Central Library of Florence. Along with other sources, the photographs found in the State Archive in Florence, the Photo Library of ICCD and the Luigi De Gregori Library, both in Rome, allow to determine the crucial role of photography in the building’s creation. The engineers carefully monitored the progress, taking pictures not only of the work but also of meaningful events. Specialised photographers, including Barsotti’s Studio and the relatively unknown Andrea Corsini, were hired to document the project. The study aims to confirm that the use of the photographic tool had become essential for documentation and the exchange of official communications between institutions, but also to emphasise the uniqueness of the materials analysed and attribute stylistic value to them. |
