| Resumo: | At a few metres above sea level, the Kota Cina archaeological site reveals a minimal surface area of some 25 hectares. Sixty-nine trenches covering 482.1 m² with a total volume of excavated soil amounting to 464.3 m³ were excavated between 2011 and 2016. The data are presented according to the types of contexts: remains of brick structures; wood remains in the northern part of the site (truncated posts and wood scatters); dozens of holes interpreted as post-holes; shell middens appearing as isolated concentrations or thick layers; unsealed layers showing a number of shards in a flat position interpreted as occupation surfaces; pits and graves; concentrations of metal wastes and tuyeres fragments. For each type of context, one or several plans are provided to facilitate the localisation of the structures, the significant features, as well as relevant stratigraphical sections. The tenuous traces of dwellings contrast sharply with the numerous remains of domestic material. |
