| Resumo: | This afterword examines the concept of “bodies impolitic” as a heuristic tool for analysing liminal subjectivities situated between marginality, governance, and embodied resistance. Starting from Michael Herzfeld’s original formulation, it reconstructs a broader genealogy through Agamben, Foucault, Mbembe, Butler, Ahmed, Puar, Das and Poole. The essay assesses both the analytical strength and the conceptual risks of the category, especially its tendency toward overextension. It then tests the concept against the ethnographic contributions collected in the issue, showing how marginal bodies expose the unstable boundaries of politics, care, citizenship, and recognition. |
