| Sammanfattning: | This article aims to report on the research conducted at the Balé da Cidade de São Paulo, a public dance company linked to the Municipal Theatre of São Paulo, Brazil. The work of dance professionals was analyzed in light of the psychodynamics of work. The confrontation of the reality of work by dancers, in the dance company studied, expresses the complex relationship between pleasure and suffering at work. Dancers commonly engage in this profession for the pleasure of movement, realizing themselves, and a common work. However, when facing the work’s reality, they find themselves grappling with organizational constraints that can lead to a feeling of loss of meaning at work. Psychic distress emerges in the gap between the artist-worker (creator) and the worker performing a choreography. |
