Sumario:Thinking about theory therefore also means thinking about what it represents within us. If all clinical approaches are influenced by a sometimes silent fidelity to childhood experiences, then the question of ‘who is speaking’ cannot be limited to the patient alone. It also affects the practitioner themselves, in their methodological choices, theoretical affiliations, and institutional positions. So, rather than trying to decide between approaches—which one heals best, which one has the best model—perhaps we should learn to read what theory brings to the fore: a way of positioning ourselves in relation to the other, to knowledge, a way of tolerating difference. And above all, to never stop returning to this scene, where what seems neutral is already inhabited. There is no pure theory, but rather uses of theory. The greatest risk is not so much having a Weltanschauung... as not knowing that we have one.
