Yhteenveto:The author examines the complex history of the emergence and trajectory of the concept of projective identification. This notion was first described by Melanie Klein and then developed by her followers. The latter developed new ways to treat psychotic patients. The development of the initial notion is linked to new apprehensions of older concepts, like countertransference. Finally, the author proposes a hypothesis in order to explain a certain rigidification of the use of the notion within the Kleinian group.
