They both mark a nuance of enunciative contrast.The interjection Non mais !1 is a prosodic and functional unit with an expressive function. Non mais! is a marker of impolite disagreement. It is always used in conflictual, polemic contexts. It reacts to the addressee’s comments or behaviour in order to disagree with them. The marker thus expresses the speaker’s indignation or incredulity. Non mais! actually rejects the speaker’s claim to have the right to act in a certain way or say certain things. This leads to the speaker’s very person being called into question.Non mais2 also introduces an enunciative contrast, but this marker does not enter into polemical contexts like interjective non mais! Non mais2 is used to change the subject while providing at the same time a transition. |
