Achoimre:Leaving the psychiatric hospital to (re)find one’s place in the family: Adolescent difficulties of reattachment – Hospitalization in a psychiatric unit for adolescents is intended for young persons affected by psychiatric symptoms for whom the “adolescent crisis” process is put on hold. This crisis can be defined as the time of separation of the adolescent from their family environment and requires relational adjustments. Logically, the hospital stay grants adolescents distance from their family environment. In this context, leaving the hospital is revealed as a pivotal moment of the experience and the adolescent can then engage in a process of “reattachment” with their family, but only if the separation has been well processed by their parents too.
