Sumario:This article analyzes the media treatment of the suicide of Sonia Rozensweig, a thirteen-year-old Polish girl. From popular uproar to collective emotion orchestrated by the mainstream press, from moral indignation to ideological indignation, this incident illustrates the media and activists’ strategies to put the issue of child abuse, xenophobia and anti-Semitism on the public agenda. It reflects the collective emotions of the moment, against a backdrop of heightened ideological tensions, and therefore lends itself to detailed analysis from the three perspectives of political, cultural and social history.
